Jurang Corporate Social Responsibility Program

The brands that will be big in the future will be those that tap into the social changes that are taking place.

Sir Michael Perrychairman of Centrica PLC

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is increasingly becoming important for businesses and organisations of any size to think about. CSR redefines business success as not solely being concerned with economic criteria, but additionally with ecological and social criteria. Central to CSR is the notion of corporate self regulation and in its most essential form requires the deliberate consideration of public interests when corporate decisions are made. This is also known as the Triple Bottom Line: 'People, Planet, Profit'.

Interesting you might say, but what has it got to do with my business?

Times are changing and employees, clients and consumers increasingly expect businesses to consider ethical issues when they do business. Global Warming and Extreme Poverty are no longer fringe issues known to only a few, but are increasingly present in the public domain. Along with governments, businesses are expected to use their position in a responsible and pro-active manner.

But what does that have to do with Fairtrade?

GfK NOP research found that 95% of consumers feel it is important for businesses to practise Fairtrade. Over 70% of consumers are aware of Fairtrade and buy Fairtrade goods and 96% of consumers are willing to pay a premium for ethical products such as Fairtrade goods. These figures make one thing very clear: people recognise Fairtrade as important and consider it an ethical principle. Relating this to CSR means that Fairtrade can act as an integral part of your CSR policy, which will instantly be recognised by employees, clients and consumers.

The Jurang Corporate Social Responsibility Program

The Jurang CSR Program is designed to help you establish or further develop your CSR policies. Using our premier supply of Fairtrade coffee and tea will provide a basis from which together we can develop not only your CSR policy but also how you communicate your ethical commitments.

Our complimentary program consists of 3 phases, which will ensure your CSR policy is appropriately grounded, communicated and maintained. This way your support of Fairtrade does not only make an active difference in the lives of producers in the developing world, it also helps your business to become recognised as a responsible organisation. Additionally the Jurang CSR Program allows you to appoint staff to champion certain parts of the CSR policy, which aids your staff development.
