Perfectly balanced and slow-roasted to enable the creation of barista-quality espresso - the foundation of all speciality coffee, such as cappuccino, latte and flat white. Hand-selected with the help of international coffee experts, we have developed this roast to ensure our beans are not oily. Ground to perfection and suitable for V60, Chemex, Filter Machines and Cafetierre.

If you have your head locked into the coffee world, then you have probably heard phrases such as washed coffee, honey process and natural process.
Our Single Origin Ethiopia coffee is 100% naturally processed, which is arguably the most authentic and certainly the oldest way to process beans.
The way this works is after the farmers have picked the coffee cherries, the fruit is spread out on raised beds to dry out in the sun. The coffee beans are turned now and again to ensure hot air can freely flow around the cherries to enable a balanced drying process.
Once the process is complete, the coffee cherries are skinned, and the green beans are then rested before being shipped directly to our roasters. We then slowly roast the coffee beans, grind the coffee, bag it up and send it out to you.
Ethiopia is well known for its naturally processed coffee, not only because it’s a tradition that goes way back but also because the natural process is renowned for adding a depth of flavour that you simply don’t get with other processes.
With our Single Origin Ethiopian ground coffee, you need to experience the taste to see but to give you an idea, the coffee has a full body with cocoa flavours and plum overtones, plus, you may also enjoy lighter fruity hints depending on the season.
Moving to Direct Trade has enabled Jurang to pay farmers a premium that goes beyond Fairtrade base rates.
Direct Trade enables suppliers to cut out the middlemen by working directly with farmers. This means we can give more money back to the farmers whilst still offering great prices for our customers. The charge to become Fairtrade certified for many producers is so high that this often results in unnecessarily increased costs for the coffee to roasters and ultimately consumers, as someone within the chain must swallow the fee. Direct Trade erases this fee, resulting in better prices for consumers, yet still offering the same premiums, if not more of the cut, straight back to the farmers.
For this reason, producers are increasingly moving beyond Fairtrade to establish Direct Trade relationships with origin farms. It is therefore now widely accepted that Direct Trade results in better quality coffee due to the improved farmer interaction. The amount Fairtrade premiums pay to farmers often does not change depending on the quality of the crop. We believe farmers should be rewarded for their hard work.
