Sourced ethically via our Direct Trade relationships with origin farms, we are confident this coffee will transform your daily ritual into a celebration of happiness, one sip at a time.
That's why we've made it our mission to craft exceptional coffee that values everyone it touches, from the skilled farmers who cultivate our beans to the dedicated roasters who bring out their unique flavours, and finally to the coffee enthusiasts who savour each sip.
What's more, we are committed to building a better world, with a portion of our proceeds going straight back to meet the needs of the local communities where we source our coffee.
Our Ethiopian single-origin coffee is full-bodied with cocoa and plum overtones.
Perfectly balanced and slow-roasted to produce barista-quality espresso, this coffee forms an excellent base for speciality drinks such as cappuccinos, lattes, and flat whites. Hand-selected with the guidance of international coffee experts, the roast profile has been carefully developed to ensure the beans remain non-oily. Ground to a consistent finish, it is well suited to V60, Chemex, filter machines, and cafetières.
Grown in Ethiopian sunlit regions, the coffee cherries develop slowly, contributing to a cup that is bright, expressive, and full of character. This natural processed coffee offers a vibrant flavour profile, with ripe berry sweetness, gentle floral notes, and a lively, wine-like acidity that adds depth and balance.
Crafted for Freshness
Our Ethiopian natural processed coffee reflects the care and expertise of the farmers who produce it, with attention given at every stage from harvest to processing. The result is a coffee that delivers freshness, clarity, and consistency in every brew.
Experience the character of Ethiopian coffee culture through this natural processed offering—bright, distinctive, and designed to be enjoyed across a range of brewing methods.
If you are familiar with the coffee world, you will have likely come across terms such as washed, honey, and natural processing. Our single origin Ethiopian coffee is 100% naturally processed, one of the oldest and most traditional methods of preparing coffee beans, and one that plays a key role in shaping the coffee’s flavour.
After harvest, the coffee cherries are spread across raised drying beds and left to dry in the sun. They are turned regularly to allow warm air to circulate evenly around the fruit, ensuring a balanced and consistent drying process.
Once fully dried, the cherries are removed to reveal the green beans, which are rested before being shipped directly to our roastery. We then slowly roast the beans, grind the coffee, carefully package it, and send it out ready for you to enjoy.
Ethiopia is widely recognised for its naturally processed coffees, not only due to its long-standing traditions but also because this method adds a depth and complexity of flavour that is difficult to achieve through other processes.
Our single origin Ethiopian ground coffee delivers a full-bodied cup with rich cocoa notes and plum undertones. Depending on the season, you may also notice lighter, fruit-forward notes that add further nuance to the cup.
Moving to Direct Trade has enabled Jurang to pay farmers a premium that goes beyond Fairtrade base rates.
Direct Trade enables suppliers to cut out the middlemen by working directly with farmers. This means we can give more money back to the farmers whilst still offering great prices for our customers. The charge to become Fairtrade certified for many producers is so high that this often results in unnecessarily increased costs for the coffee to roasters and ultimately consumers, as someone within the chain must swallow the fee. Direct Trade erases this fee, resulting in better prices for consumers, yet still offering the same premiums, if not more of the cut, straight back to the farmers.
For this reason, producers are increasingly moving beyond Fairtrade to establish Direct Trade relationships with origin farms. It is therefore now widely accepted that Direct Trade results in better quality coffee due to the improved farmer interaction. The amount Fairtrade premiums pay to farmers often does not change depending on the quality of the crop. We believe farmers should be rewarded for their hard work.
We've concluded that Direct Trade is better for farmers, producers, and customers and are proud to state all of our Happy Coffee Beans are sourced ethically via Direct Trade relationships with origin farms worldwide.
We believe in a vision where the bottom line is people, not profit.
