Grown in the Kenyan high-altitude regions, our Roaster Choice Kenya beans benefit from rich volcanic soils and favourable climatic conditions. This results in brews with bright acidity and complex tasting notes.
This coffee was produced by Lot 20, one of the most progressive coffee producers, and carefully processed at their new satellite facility in Kaptagat, a high-altitude region on the border of Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo Marakwet counties. This area is known for its cool temperatures and fertile soils, ideal conditions for cultivating expressive, high-quality Kenyan coffee.
What truly sets this lot apart is its rarity. Kenya is celebrated worldwide for its meticulously washed coffees, with around 90% of production following this method. In contrast, this coffee has been dried using the natural process—an uncommon and adventurous choice in Kenya. By drying the coffee cherry whole, the sugars and fruit character fully develop, resulting in a richer, more layered flavour profile rarely found in Kenyan coffees.
The result is a unique expression of Kenya: vibrant and complex, yet deeper and more fruit-forward than the classic washed style.
