CafeDirect work alongside the Muungano Co-operative, one of the few co-operatives in the region.
The co-operative was up in 2009, yet has emerged to have over 4,300 smallholder farmers from a range of communities once divided by civil war.
Just under half of the farmers are women, and the name of 'Muungano’ can be defined as ‘togetherness’ - a beautiful name for the dedicated farmers that are sharing knowledge and productivity together to produce this fantastic Fairtrade organic high-quality coffee beans.

Shoppers have been looking for a speciality coffee that tastes amazing but has real depth when it comes to ethics & sustainability. Cafedirect has lead the way with Fairtrade and Organic coffee for years. So it comes as no surprise to see the release of their London Fields Roastery Range.
With the opening of their new Roastery in London. Cafedirect now has control over the entire process meaning not only can the taste of the roast be fine-tuned to ensure maximum potential is extracted from the beans, it also means that from field-to-cup the whole journey is managed to give the farmers the best possible yield from their labour.
Certified Fairtrade is not only why this coffee is a must buy. It's organic too, as classified by the Soil Association. Buying into coffee from Cafedirect is not only obtaining some of the best coffee available, roasted by experts it is a conscious decision to create a fairer world.
